Tea Time in Wonderland, ANDSOFORTH

ANDSOFORTH presents the Junior edition of Dinner In Wonderland!

The company is bringing to the table, for the first time, a theatrical production for children aged five to 12! It will put together a mesmerising storytelling session [lunch inclusive] and activities for the younglings for two full hours. We had to go for it. Just had to. There are only two sessions in February for the juniors and we were really quick with our fingers to get ourselves booked in. I read about how we will be in the same immersive set played by the very same captivating casts for the Adults Only productions!

When Nat [so.natty.sg] suggested that we went for Dinner in Wonderland by ANDSOFORTH, she unknowingly opened up a world of magic into my mundane housewife life. It is themed around the 1865 novel, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland; a musical production that immerses its guests into the drama set as they feast on a specially designed menu. You may call it a pop-up restaurant and one that implants much excitement in you that you [Nat in this case] may not be able to sleep the night before from dreaming about how tea with Madhatter might unfold! Oh how can you sleep when you will be experiencing one of the most exciting tea party in history?

How can anyone not be enthusiastic about it when the instructions given to you are as follows:
1. Book yourself a ticket for an ANDSOFORTH event.
2. Keep a look out for The Initiation on your phone.
3. Follow instructions to reach The Location.
4 .Don’t miss The Clue along the way.
5. Let The Feast begin!
6. Once the experience is over, we ask only that you keep The Secret between you and us.

Now that we are bound to secrecy, I will keep my oath to keep the event as mysterious as possible.

It is not exactly cheap at S$68 per person [child or adult] but thinking how a four-course kid-friendly [no french fries] feast was served while being part of the stage set of Alice and her friends, made the money worth all the while. We experienced professionalism at its peak by the actors and gosh! Rabbit could actually sing! I mean, she sings well with good vocals and possesses very impressive acting skills [every one of them]. The staff are not just full-time waiters who had to fit themselves into character roles but are indeed theatrical performers, here to bring you into the world of Alice's adventures! If only everyone came to the party with a hat. How can you attend Hatter's tea party without one?

The Big People Shall Pass Through The BIG DOOR
The Small People Shall Pass Through The small door

And we were led. To two doors. While the moms thought we would be walking through the regular sized [Big] doors and our children, doors that would fit their heights [Small], we were actually considered the "small people"! The parents walked through the small door as if we've eaten the EAT ME cake to make us grow enormously huge and our children walked through the big door with ease as if they've just drunk the DRINK ME potion.

That is all I am going to reveal! All theatrical, dining and games to be experienced by your royal self [if you are coming as The Queen of Hearts]!

Our children didn't want to go home. So that's testimonial enough for the success of this Junior edition of Dinner in Wonderland.

I imagined myself as Alice, Queen of Hearts, Chesire Cat or the White Rabbit - whichever character it might be, the dress-up will be elaborate! Well of course patrons do not have to turn up dressed to the theme but where's the fun if not?

Then Nat [so.natty.sg] texted me and said, "How about Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum?" I stared at my phon and laughed! Erm, are we going to stuff bubble wrap inside us? How can we look fat and round like the Twiddles! [in the conversation below: green me, white her]

We twinned on two levels for this party! Mommies arrived as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum while we dressed our boys as Card Soldiers. Aren't we glad that the casts at ANDSOFORTH recognised us as the silly, obnoxious, nonsensical, hyperactive, childish and whimsical duo as soon as we arrived! A pre-event photoshoot had to be organised.

But first, the recipe to our costumes.

MOMS
Hat: one borrowed and one bought from carousell
Top: our own
Tu Tu: bought from carousell
Suspenders: bought from carousell
Mismatched Socks: our own
Shoes: our own

KIDS
Cards' Hat: hand-made by Nat's helper
Cards' Staff: hand-made by Nat's helper
Card's Costume: hand-made by Nat's helper

Isn't her helper super or what! Nat and I met on the first of February to buy the materials from Spotlight, passed them to Superhelper with a picture of how we would like the boys to look like and she created magic.

Sorry to disappoint that we outsourced the making of the costumes to someone else instead of doing it on our own. Well, we could have right Nat? It wasn't that difficult but we cannot possibly take away Superhelper's enthusiasm to be part of this *smiles* We even brought her along to help us with our epic double twinning photoshoot!

Enjoy the visuals! We had a wonderful mom and first-born date last Saturday.

It isn't sold out yet for the 18th of February 2017 so if you want to book yourselves in, click here! And remember! The fun is in the dress-up!
